You are black. You are oppressed in a no-win scenario. It's time for that to change. You have all of the tools.
You need to read the Constitution of the United States of America. No joke, this is the most important, fam!
The First Amendment grants every citizen a right to PEACEABLY assemble and ask the Government for change. A protest, when peaceful, is protected by the First Amendment. KEEP. IT. PEACEFUL.
- Do not start fights. Everyone around you knows it is wrong to hurt people. If you hurt other people you will be quickly stopped.
- If you are arrested, DO NOT FIGHT BACK. DON'T GIVE THEM A REASON TO END YOUR LIFE.
- Burning things is NOT considered peaceful!
- DO NOT BRING WEAPONS TO A PROTEST. Weapons are not peaceful!
Do you have a mobile phone (iPhone, Samsung, Android...)? Keep it on you at all times.
- Some states have laws against recording. Ignore that in public. Your life and livelihood will depend on it. Anyone can be a citizen journalist and that includes you.
- Recording video takes a lot of battery, so keep your phone charged! You should also get a spare battery and attach it to your phone. Don't buy it online! Buy it from a local business that way it won't be stolen off of your porch.
- Your phone has a calendar! Add a recurring calendar event to remind yourself once every week to contact your government representatives and demand change. Who are your representatives? Add them to your contact list. Write them on a paper and put it on your refrigerator.
- If you can vote, then vote. Your racist representatives might be working against you. They might purge you from the voter rolls. They might prevent you from voting because of the Boomer Plague known as COVID-19. Stay on top of your voting ability! Make sure you know where your voter registration card is at!
Eventually I want to be able to let you share your own story. If you're interested in helping to set this up, you can contact me via email at stories.youare.black@gmail.com.
